More and more people are getting involved in helping to achieve a more sustainable environment by means of carbon reduction programs. However, many are still not quite familiar on how could such program possibly work and more specifically on the carbon offset cost that an individual or a company has to pay for such good deed to come about. Let us go back to the basics of carbon credits and why there is a need for such credits to exist.

Of these 58.6 per cent of the landmass is prone to earthquakes of moderate to very high intensity; over 40 million hectares (12 per cent of land) is prone to floods and river erosion; of the 7,516 km long coastline, close to 5,700 km is prone to cyclones and tsunamis; 68 per cent of the cultivable area is vulnerable to drought and hilly areas are at risk from landslides and avalanches.This will not only solve the problems of all devastating disasters including floods in the country in which crores of rupees are spent every year but also help in the re-employment of ex-servicemen who are fully trained to carry out such duties sincerely and efficiently.
